- v.23 fallback isn't what you're looking for, that's for
- negotiating v.23, which is a 2400 protocol if memory serves. The fallback
- disabled command is supposed to mean that the modem hasn't request a
- fall-back, however I'm not sure if this actualy works, as I've seen modem
- fallforward and/or fallback and the fallback message still says disabled.
- In any case, fallforward/fallback is enabled by default (in fact, I'm not
- even sure if it's possible to disable fallback in the new model
- Sportsters, I sure don't know the command).

- I'll say, there's no reason for you to retrain 21 times during a
- connection (which would explain all those 10-15 second pauses). BTW,
- Retrains requested is the number of retrains you're modem requested,
- Retrains granted is the number of retrains the remote modem granted (which
- you're modem granted).

- Well, you could try using vFC instead of v.34, this should help
- your problems if your connecting to Hayes modems (which would be my first
- guess, I don't know of any other brands that are likely to cause that many
- retrains). To do this, send the modem an ATS32=0 command.
